Welcome to the Nation's Oldest Port proposed National Heritage Area (NHA), where a rich maritime landscape, converging waterways, and the Atlantic Ocean have uniquely shaped the culture and traditions of St. Augustine, Florida and the surrounding region!

Here, as the Nation's Oldest Port NHA effort looks to join the 49 existing NHA's, you will learn about the unique heritage and natural resources of the coastal St. Johns and Flagler Counties' region, our nationally distinctive themes or stories, and how you can join this locally driven effort to recognize this area as a special place in America.

We need your participation and input. Through a local feasibility effort, we are working with local residents and organizations to capture the unique stories, resources, cultural traditions, recreational offerings, landmarks and businesses that contribute to this region's sense of place.

Register for the Heritage Area e-newsletter to learn more about the heritage area concept and the NHA feasibility process. Before leaving the website, we would appreciate your letter of support (see sample letter). Thank you for your interest in this citizen-based, voluntary initiative to preserve, interpret, and share our region's rich cultural and natural heritage.
